Architecture festivals are a great way for industry professionals and students to gain inspiration, grow and acquire knowledge. A festival is often a point of high energy, and has a bit of everything for everyone, from daydreaming students to established professionals looking to advance in their careers. Here are seven iconic architecture festivals worldwide that inspire generations of architects and students alike.
1. World Architecture Festival

The World Architecture Festival is one of the largest global architecture events. Over 550 shortlisted candidates compete and present their projects to the judging panel. From these entries, one of them is selected as the World Building of the Year. The first festival was held in 2008 in Barcelona. A sister event for the festival, INSIDE, celebrating the innovations in Interior architecture and design, was declared to be organised along with the World Architecture Festival. The World Building of the Year award for 2023 was bagged by Approach Design Studio and Zhejiang University of Technology Engineering Design Group for Huizhen High School in China. Apart from World Building of the Year, other awards like Future Project of the Year, World Interior of the Year, and Landscape of the Year are also distributed.
World Architecture Festival 2024 is set to be held in Marina Bay Sands, Singapore, from November 6th to 8th.
2. Venice Architecture Biennale

Venice Architecture Biennale or Mostra di Architettura di Venezia in Italian, is one of the best international architectural events held every 2 years in Venice. The event was first inaugurated in 1980 and held regularly until 2020 when complications due to covid 19 pandemic led to its postponement to 2021. The latest edition, held in 2023, was curated by Lesley Lokko and was titled The Laboratory of the Future.
Venice Architecture Biennale will hold its 19th edition(2025) from 10th May to 23rd November 2025, curated by the architect Carlo Ratti. The Biennale Architettura 2025 will focus on Intelligens. Natural. Artificial. Collective. The exhibition explores intelligent solutions to pressing problems, focusing on natural, artificial, collective, and combinations of these intelligences. The exhibition aims to accelerate transformation and find a better future through fearless trial and error.
3. Salone Del Mobile

Milan Furniture Fair or Salone Del Mobile, is the largest annual furniture fair in the world. It is one of the most anticipated events in the Milan Design Week. The first edition of Salone Del Mobile was held in 1961 and aims to showcase a variety of furnishing products and serve as a platform to express its functional, material and technological innovation. The event is a global, inclusive platform for companies and brands to showcase their ingenuity, vision, innovation, sustainable excellence, and emotion. The trade fair acts as a laboratory for experimentation, cross-pollination, and interaction, presenting prototypes and innovations in furnishings, domestic spaces, and lifestyles. It explores how our way of living is forever transforming and influences home living and furnishing.
Salone Del Mobile will be held from the 8th to the 13th of April 2025 at Rho Fiera Fairground in Milan.
4. Chicago Architecture Biennial

The Chicago Architecture Biennial is one of the top architecture festivals in North America conducted in Chicago under the city?s Cultural Affairs Department. The festival is funded by public and private sponsors and by individuals. It serves as a dias to explore groundbreaking innovations and radical spatial experiments in architecture and facilitates a conversation about transforming daily lives with technology and innovation. It was founded in 2014 and the first edition was held between October 2015 and January 2016.
The last biennial was held from Nov 1, 2023, to Feb 11, 2024, titled, This is a Rehearsal. It explores contemporary environmental, political, and economic issues globally through art, architecture, and civic participation. It builds on the Floating Museum’s work, inviting dialogue and creative invention to explore alternative ways of making architecture and reimagining cities.
5. London Festival of Architecture

London Festival of Architecture is one of Europe?s largest annual design and architecture exhibitions. It was founded in 2004 and held every 2 years and was titled London Architecture Biennale. In 2008, the festival was decided to take place annually and renamed it as the London Festival of Architecture or LFA. It is a month-long event held every year in June. 2024 marks the 20th anniversary of LFA hosting around 500 events under the theme Reimagine- highlighting the urgency to rethink the ways of design and architecture to suit the needs of the people and the planet. The festival showcases an impressive range of activities like design competitions, film screenings, talks, debates, installation, open tours, etc. Rosa Rogina serves as the director for LFA.
6. Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism

The 2025 Seoul Biennale of Architecture and Urbanism has named Thomas Heatheriwck, as its general director and curator. The Biennale, which forms one of Asia’s biggest architectural design festivals, aims to address urban challenges faced by major global cities and foster innovative solutions. The exhibition which has attracted over 3 million participants in its last four editions, will focus on making buildings and cities more joyful and engaging. The Seoul Biennale comprises five primary sections: Thematic Exhibition, Cities Exhibition, On-site Project, Global Studios, and educational activities. The biennale aims to create a shared future for Seoul, focusing on themes such as “Land Urbanism” and Seoul, and expanding on earlier themes like “Imminent Commons,” “Collective City,” and “Resilient City.”
7. Architecture & Design Film Festival

The Architecture & Design Film Festival (ADFF) will launch its 16th season in New York, Vancouver, Los Angeles, Toronto, Chicago, and Mumbai, where it will make its debut. The festival will feature works chosen for their cinematic and narrative excellence, addressing sustainability, artistic innovation, community impact, and the built environment. The festival will return to the iconic Village East by Angelika Theatre in New York, with the world premiere of Stardust: The Story of Robert Venturi and Denise Scott Brown. The festival will also feature world premieres of Sitting Still, Schindler?s Space Architect, This Is Not A House, and The House: 6 Points of Departure. The festival will also feature the U.S. premiere of two Italian films: The Pavilion on the Water and Green over Gray: Emilio Ambasz. 8. Festival of Architecture & Interior Designing(FOAID)

FOAID 2024, India’s 11th annual Festival of Architecture and Interior Designing, is a platform for the exchange of knowledge, ideas, and innovations among professionals, students, and enthusiasts in the field. FOAID 2024 will take place on November 22-23 at the NSIC Grounds in Okhla, New Delhi, and on December 20-21 at the Jio World Convention Center in Mumbai. The event features over 50 renowned speakers and experts from the architecture and design industries, offering over 20 sessions, including individual presentations, panel discussions, debates, and interactive dialogues. The festival also features the ICA Creative Minds Next Competition, recognizing conceptual and ongoing projects in architecture and design across India. The competition aims to foster networking, interdisciplinary collaboration, and professional development, fostering the architectural community’s ability to influence society.??
