In a quiet pocket just outside Raipur, where urban chaos fades into whispering landscapes, Eco Eden Farmhouse rises as a serene blend of contextual architecture and conscious living. Designed to function as a rental escape for weekend stays, parties, or short Airbnb retreats, the farmhouse is a fine example of how a small footprint can offer expansive experiences—both spatially and emotionally.

Architecture in Sync with Land and Lifestyle

Set on a compact 10,000 sq.ft. plot, the project brief called for versatility, minimal built form, and a fluid indoor-outdoor lifestyle. The villa’s central placement on the site establishes two distinct zones—a welcoming green forecourt and a private backyard haven complete with a swimming pool and a shaded gazebo.

Each move in the design responds to the topography and light, ensuring that the building feels like a natural extension of its setting rather than an imposition on it.

Traditional Language, Contemporary Comfort

The architectural vocabulary is inspired by vernacular Chhattisgarhi design, incorporating sloped tile roofs, wide verandas, and shaded porches. These elements not only lend the structure a regional identity but also enhance its climatic performance, ensuring passive cooling and sheltered outdoor experiences.

The interiors carry the same ethos forward. With rough plastered walls, exposed wooden rafters, bamboo mat ceilings, and Kota stone floors, the material palette invites both warmth and texture. The open-plan layout features a dedicated bedroom and a convertible living area, allowing the space to shape-shift based on guest needs—intimate one moment, communal the next.

Framing the Outdoors, Living Within It

Large sliding glass doors connect the interiors directly to nature, encouraging guests to live across thresholds. Furniture crafted from locally sourced wood and cane, along with native landscaping, completes the immersive experience. Natural partitions made from foliage and water features offer privacy without ever closing off the surroundings.

This fluidity of boundaries—both physical and perceptual—is what makes Eco Eden so special. It’s a place that doesn’t just house guests—it calibrates them to nature’s pace.

The design comes from the thoughtful minds at Studio Skywell, an architectural and interior design studio based in Raipur, co-founded by Twinkle Nathani and Mayank Wadhwa. Known for their work in hospitality and residential design, Studio Skywell is deeply committed to sustainable architecture that bridges modern living with ecological responsibility.

Their design philosophy centers on creating “skywells”—spaces that allow light, air, and nature to flow through built forms. At Eco Eden Farmhouse, this idea is fully realized in the open transitions, the earthy palette, and the sense of pause the architecture evokes.
