Tucked into the vibrant lanes of Jubilee Hills, Krishna’s Back to Roots isn’t your average retail store—it’s a nostalgic journey, a slow-paced stroll into India’s agrarian past, seamlessly delivered in a contemporary format. And at the heart of this warm, grounded space is the vision of Fellow Yellow Design Studio, led by architect Geethu Gangadharan.

In an era of sleek supermarkets and high-gloss retail environments, Back to Roots chooses a different path—one paved with red earth tones, terracotta hues, handcrafted materials, and quiet reverence for the land. Spread across 1800 sq. ft., this organic store reimagines what it means to shop for food—transforming it from a transaction into a tactile, emotional experience.
A Modern Farmers’ Market—With a Soul
Step inside and you’re instantly transported. The exposed brick walls speak of age-old wisdom. The timber shelves, made by local artisans, feel familiar—almost like something you’d see in your grandmother’s pantry. Light floods in, dancing across lime-washed surfaces and subtly curved entryways that borrow from the architecture of traditional South Indian homes.

There’s a rhythm to the space. Nothing shouts for attention, yet everything is intentional. The layout is zoned with clarity—fresh produce here, dry goods there, and conversation in every corner. In a retail world dominated by efficiency, Krishna’s Back to Roots carves out something far more valuable: atmosphere.
Where Architecture Meets Memory
This project isn’t just design—it’s storytelling. Every element, from the textures on the wall to the handcrafted signage, evokes memories of village markets and Sunday haats. Yet, what makes the space truly stand out is how effortlessly it blends this rural nostalgia with urban functionality.
Fellow Yellow Design Studio, known for their sensitive, multidisciplinary approach, brings both soul and system into the store. Geethu Gangadharan’s design philosophy centers around grounding contemporary aesthetics in local narratives—and here, that vision shines through with quiet power.

More Than a Store—It’s a State of Mind
What makes Krishna’s Back to Roots unforgettable is how it invites visitors to slow down. You don’t just shop here—you pause, you smell, you remember. The store doesn’t scream organic. It breathes it.
It’s a space that says: let’s go back—not backwards, but inward. Toward intention. Toward quality. Toward roots.
