History of Kala Ghoda Arts Festival
Kala Ghoda Area is south Mumbai?s famous art district with various heritage structures and art galleries. In 1998 a group of art-loving individuals, artists and concerned citizens came together at Kala Ghoda Association ? a group committed to protecting this beloved art district. In 1999, the association launched a first-of-its-kind multidisciplinary arts festival, a congregation of art, culture and architecture. The seed of the Kala Ghoda Association bloomed into Asia?s largest multidisciplinary street arts festival spanning over 9 days in January and February. The fest is absolutely free to attend. Yes, you heard it right. You don?t need to pay a penny to come and see the festivities and leave home with a truckload of memories.
Kala Ghoda Association also takes up restoration works in the precinct to conserve the precious heritage it has built in the city of dreams. The latest restoration is the Ruttonsi Muljee Jetha Fountain completed in 2017. Other restoration works include Elphinstone College, David Sassoon Library, synagogue, Bomanjee Homarjee Wadia Clock Tower, and ARTISANS? Centre.
A Blend of Art and Architecture

One of the most famous art festivals in India, it brings about a range of attractions, including visual arts and architecture. Mumbaikars of all stripes may find art and culture at Kala Ghoda, the famous art neighbourhood.
