The much-awaited Expo 2025 is set to occur in Osaka, Japan, from April 13 to October 13, 2025. “Designing Future Society for Our Lives,” the topic, emphasizes diversity, creativity, and sustainable development. The occasion seeks to advance Japanese technology, culture, and cuisine while offering a forum for global collaboration and communication. Almost 47 countries will present their Osaka Expo 2025 pavilions during the expo. More than 18 countries have revealed their design as of now. Read on to find out the top 10 pavilions from the ones revealed.
1. Netherlands

The Netherlands? pavilion, one of the must-see pavilions at Osaka Expo 2025, revolves around the theme “Common Ground: Creating a New Dawn Together”. The circular pavilion, built by RAU Architects, includes an illuminated sphere that represents unlimited clean energy and a sustainable future. The pavilion aims to tackle climate change, food security, and global health while promoting sustainable energy transition. Along with the pavilion, the Netherlands also aims to launch the ?Road2Osaka? campaign which would pave the way to strengthen the economic, political, and cultural liaisons with Japan and East Asia.
2. Switzerland

Manuel Herz Architekten, NUSSLI, and Bellprat Partner has designed the pavilion for Switzerland for the Expo Osaka 2025. The pavilion, designed with a lightweight membrane, aims to minimize environmental impact and strengthen bilateral relations between Switzerland and Japan. It features four interconnected spheres, an interactive playground, and a rooftop with views of the Expo. The exhibitions will focus on Augmented Human, Life, and Planet, with Switzerland actively participating in global discussions. The pavilion features contributions from public and private sectors, including design houses and wine gastronomy practices.
3. Bahrain

Lebanese French architect Lina Ghotmeh is the designer of the National Pavilion of Bahrain for Expo Osaka 2025, showcasing the country’s maritime history and important geography as a major trade hub. The pavilion, designed by Shepherd Studio, consists of a wood structure surrounded by an outer layer of aluminium, reducing the pavilion’s effect on the environment. The structure is anticipated to draw in over 28 million guests from 150 countries. The exhibition will also incorporate a devoted business section to advance Bahrain’s competitiveness, globally and region-wise. Built to be demountable and reusable, it can also be recycled post-expo.
4. Kuwait

Touted as one of the best pavilions at Osaka Expo 2025, Kuwait has unveiled the design of its pavilion for the World Expo 2025. The pavilion, themed “Visionary Lighthouse” and designed by international architecture practice LAVA, symbolizes Kuwait as an accepting community of Arab social initiatives, arts and civilizations. It is part of the exhibition’s theme, “Designing Future Society for our Lives,” aiming to strengthen the relationship between Kuwait and Japan and promote sustainable future visions. The pavilion features a translucent fa?ade illuminated at night, a central dome, and four interactive exhibition rooms.
5. France

French architecture studio Coldefy and Italian architecture practice CRA-Carlo Ratti Associati have unveiled ‘Theatrum Naturae’, or ‘Theatre of Nature’, as France’s national pavilion at Expo Osaka 2025. The project aims to connect human and non-human worlds and showcase France’s contribution to culture and the natural environment. Visitors will explore France’s ecosystems and reconnect with nature. Three acts make up the pavilion’s pathway: Ascent, Discovery of Nature, and Return to the Ground. The pavilion is designed in a circular architectural style with a combination of natural materials and prefabricated parts and aligns with the expo?s theme, “Empowering Life?.
6. Saudi Arabia

Foster + Partners has been selected to create one of the International pavilions Osaka 2025 for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The pavilion establishing its presence on the Yumeshima waterfront will evoke the place and make it possible to feel the towns and cities in Saudi Arabia and the engaging space and spatial features at the same time. Aimed at traditional villages of Saudi Arabia, the pavilion has a specific form of construction that allows cooling western winds with the help of computational fluid dynamics simulations and sheltering them from powerful northwest winds. Some of the features that were incorporated into the design of the pavilion include solar technologies, rainwater recycling, low-carbon materials and lighting.
7. Czech Republic

Osaka Expo architecture highlights include the Czech Republic?s pavilion, designed by Apropos Architects, which prioritizes movement and encourages physical activity, with a dynamic ascending spiral as a metaphor for the ideal life path. The glass fa?ade of the pavilion honours the glassmaking heritage of the Czech Republic and has distinctive display rooms with dynamic interior environments. The design features a spiral ramp that revolves around a hollow multifunctional auditorium tube, spanning 402 square meters. The ramp also features a viewing terrace with a restaurant and bar. The pavilion’s structural design revolves around a regular framing system of CLT wooden panels, ensuring construction readiness, ease of disassembly, and transportability. 8. Singapore

The Singapore Pavilion design for the Expo has been released by DP Architects Group and Kingsmen Exhibits. It is a 17-meter-tall spherical covered in recycled disks. The pavilion, located on Yumeshima Island, will showcase Singapore’s culture and sustainable innovations. The installation, organized on three levels, features interactive multimedia art installations by Singapore artists and introduces visitors to Singapore’s culinary traditions and built environment innovations. The ‘Dream Sphere, made from recycled materials, symbolizes Singapore’s collective spirit and good diplomatic relations with the two countries.
9. USA

Trahan Architects has designed the USA Pavilion for Expo 2025 Osaka-Kansai in Japan, capturing the essence of American architecture, innovation, culture and industry. The pavilion, located between the East Entrance Plaza and the Forest of Tranquilly, features a large plaza with LED screens showcasing American landscapes. The pavilion’s architecture, inspired by Japanese footbridges, aims to balance and create an unforgettable experience. The pavilion complies with the Sustainable Development Goals of the UN and makes use of sustainable resources including reused steel and tensile fabric from demolished Tokyo Olympic buildings. The pavilion aims to engage in a global conversation on the future of our environment and cities.
10. Luxembourg

The Luxembourg pavilion, designed by STDM Architectes Urbanistes and MIKAN, is one of the versatile and unique designs at Osaka Expo pavilions and aims to express joy and enthusiasm while strengthening the connection between the two countries. The pavilion, named “Doki-Doki ?The Luxembourg Heartbeat,” is composed of modular volumes that create an exploratory journey through the national exhibition. The large stretched canvas serves multiple roles, creating a protected environment and resonating with the public. The pavilion’s theme is “Uniqueness ? Diversity ? Territory,” with an artificial landscape that mirrors Luxembourg’s characteristic landscapes and offers a glimpse into its culture and heritage. The pavilion also embodies circularity principles, as its elements can be easily disassembled and repurposed.
