In the heart of Ahmedabad, A Square Peg in a Round Hole by Studio Deshi is setting a new precedent for what modern workspaces can feel like—one where ergonomic efficiency, Vastu-aligned planning, and post-pandemic sensibilities meet seamlessly under one roof.
Spanning 5,000 sq. ft., this office interior takes a bold yet intuitive approach to workplace design. From the moment you step into the space, a terracotta-hued parametric wall greets you—fluid, dynamic, and deeply symbolic of the convergence between tradition and innovation. Just beside it sits a Green Forest Indian marble reception table, accented with gold details that quietly suggest luxury without ostentation.

The design is rooted in a post-COVID mindset, carefully addressing wellness, productivity, and spatial harmony. Every workstation is Vastu-aligned—facing either north or east—responding to both cultural context and psychological orientation for optimum energy and focus. Custom-made workstations in bold blue and yellow sit atop curved metal legs, giving the space a visual rhythm while staying functional and grounded.

A standout feature of this project is its acoustic and aesthetic ceiling design in the conference room, which borrows cues from the same parametric vocabulary as the entry wall. These curves aren’t just visually striking—they help manage sound and create spatial continuity.

Lighting plays a vital role in setting the right atmosphere. A combination of vertical elements and a custom grid system ensures a warm yet evenly lit environment. The palette across the office ranges from earthy, grounded tones in the pantry area to the bold hues of a cheerful yellow phone booth—infusing personality into the space while offering zones of privacy and rest.

One of the most compelling aspects of this office is how tradition finds its place in a modern setting. A mandir, quietly positioned in the northeast corner, adds a spiritual layer to the space. It’s subtle, respectful, and deeply effective in creating emotional resonance.
Studio Deshi, led by Devanshi Doshi and Shivam Vaidya, has earned a reputation for its psychologically intuitive and culturally rooted designs across commercial and residential spaces. Known for harmonizing bold colors with mindful layouts, the firm continues to carve a niche for itself as a new-age studio that understands both people and place.
With A Square Peg in a Round Hole, Studio Deshi proves that an office can be more than just desks and partitions—it can be a living system that nurtures people, honors tradition, and adapts to the ever-evolving rhythms of work.
