In the fast-paced pulse of Ahmedabad, Pause: The Weekend Home by Studio Deshi is a retreat designed to exhale. Spanning 2200 sq. ft., this soulful second home invites its occupants to unwind in a space where natural textures, subtle warmth, and mindful detailing create an atmosphere of serenity.

The home speaks through a tactile palette—cane, oak wood, terracotta, river-washed stone—layered against industrial elements like exposed concrete ceilings and dark flooring. It’s a fusion that feels earthy yet contemporary, allowing modern living to slow down and reconnect with nature.

The heart of the space is a pebble-shaped custom sofa, surrounded by concentric benches that serve as footrests, extra seats, or playful gathering spots. Sliding and pivot doors redefine how spaces breathe—open for connection, closed for cocooned comfort. The transitions are seamless, intuitive, and designed to let light and life move freely.
Dining becomes a grounding experience with a monolithic stone table, complemented by ambient lights crafted from banana fiber and cane. Bedrooms are sanctuaries with live-edge wooden backrests, while the children’s room is imagined as a blank canvas—low, open, and full of possibility.

Behind this poetic spatial narrative is Studio Deshi, a design practice led by Devanshi Doshi and Shivam Vaidya, known for crafting intuitive, emotionally resonant spaces. Their work blends craft, context, and calm—a design language that honors stillness and celebrates simplicity.
This is not just a house—it’s a philosophy in built form. A place where time gently slows and the mind finds quiet. And in a world of constant motion, Pause is a reminder that beauty often lies in stillness.
