This serene biophilic home in Thrissur by Muaz Rahman Architects combines passive design, natural materials, and a tranquil layout rooted in Kerala’s climate. A deeply tranquil home in Thrissur, Kerala that exemplifies the power of biophilic design, this 4,000 sq. ft. residence isn’t just surrounded by nature—it’s shaped by it. From cascading indoor waterfalls to lush vertical gardens, the home is a seamless blend of architecture and landscape. The layout follows an “H-shaped” plan that optimizes cross ventilation, natural light, and privacy, making it ideal for Kerala’s humid tropical climate.

Inside, earthy textures and organic materials set the tone. Lime plaster walls, exposed concrete ceilings, and wooden accents create a grounded, minimalist aesthetic that feels timeless. Each space opens up to green courtyards, letting light and air flow freely while maintaining a strong sense of intimacy and enclosure.
One of the standout features is a slanted skylight that brings a dramatic wash of daylight into the central living zone—connecting the indoors to the sky above. Even in the densely built context of Thrissur, the house offers a cocoon of calm, free from noise and visual clutter.

The firm’s founder, Muaz Rahman, has built a reputation for crafting homes that are emotionally resonant and environmentally responsive. His approach emphasizes climate-sensitive design, passive strategies, and aesthetic simplicity, creating spaces that feel both luxurious and livable.
With its restrained material palette, poetic planning, and immersive relationship with nature, House of Nature is not just a home—it’s a lesson in designing with nature, not just around it.
